Thiruvananthapuram corporation puts off razing of buildings

On Tuesday, workers and resort staff blocked the officials from entering the spot.

Thiruvananthapuram: The attempt of the City Corporation to raze illegal structures in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) in the state capital continues to go futile. On Tuesday, following stiff resistance from a resort owner and local people, the engineering wing who went to demolish a private beach resort at Kovalam had to leave without executing the order. It is learnt that the team arrived at the spot without an adequate police force.

The town planning wing under the civic body has identified around 167 illegal buildings at Vizhinjam which has been constructed violating CRZ norms. On Tuesday, workers and resort staff blocked the officials from entering the spot.
