Set schedules for projects, Officials told

Mr Kumar discussed the new advertisement policy, the proposed Municipal Act, and preparation for the imminent monsoons.

Hyderabad: Municipal administration principal secretary Arvind Kumar on Tuesday instructed officials to set timelines with respect to the construction of overhead service reservoirs and to ensure that all of them are functional by the end of September.

He said that under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AM-RUT), Rs 1,550 crore had been spent in 10 municipalities and corporations towards water supply schemes and that 85 per cent of that work had been completed.

Mr Kumar discussed the new advertisement policy, the proposed Municipal Act, and preparation for the imminent monsoons. Mr Kumar was speaking at a meeting with public health engineers during which he took stock of the progress made in completion of work related to the urban Mission Bhagiratha to provide drinking water in cities, AMRUT and Telangana Muni-cipal Development Project.

He informed the officials that he was planning to tour the towns from the first week of July to supervise progress in the projects. Pertaining to the World Bank-funded Telan-gana Municipal Development Project, he said that the works in Armoor, Manugur and Jammikunta had been completed while the works in Huzurabad, Kothagudem, Medak, and Kollapur were still in progress. Chief Engi-neer Dhan Singh and other officials were present at this meeting.

Mr Kumar later held a meeting with GHMC officials and reviewed the progress made in the road works taken up under the Strategic Road Develop-ment Programme. During this meeting, he discussed the new advertisement policy, the proposed municipal Act, and preparation for the monsoon.

He was briefed on the reasons for the slow pace of works and he said he would submit a report to the government on the issues. Among those present at the meeting was GHMC commissioner M. Dana Kishore.
