Tirupati: Five minor boys were arrested for allegedly blackmailing a 14-year-old girl in Chandragiri constituency of Chittoor district on Tuesday, police said.
According to CI Arohana Rao, the victim has been studying in a government school and staying in a hostel in the constituency. Her father is physically challenged and she had lost her mother while she was young. The girl had come home to spend summer holidays.
“A minor boy, studying class X at a private school made friendship with the girl. He had clicked photos of the girl while she was bathing at her home,” the CI said.
The CI said that the minor boy, started blackmailing here for sex. The accused later shared the photographs with four of his friends, who also started blackmailing the minor girl.
“Vexed with the blackmail, the victim lodged a complaint at the police station. Acting on it, we have arrested five minor boys and booked them under various sections of IPC dealing with blackmailing, atrocity, violation of SC/ST Act and under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sent them to remand,” the CI told this newspaper on Tuesday.
