Kerala is safe, travel advisory withdrawn

Additional chief secretary Rajeev Sadanandan said in a statement that it was now safe to travel to any part of Kerala.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The health department has withdrawn the health advisory on travelling to Kerala issued in the wake of Nipah virus infection. Additional chief secretary Rajeev Sadanandan said in a statement that it was now safe to travel to any part of Kerala.

Following the detection of the virus, the health department had issued advisories on May 22 and 25 for persons travelling to Kerala. No new Nipah cases were reported in the state for 21 days. Since this was more than the longest incubation period of the virus, the Nipah outbreak in the state was considered to be over, the statement said.
