Governor never sought explanations on murders: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Sources said that the governor had sought reports on the political violence on a couple of occasions.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has informed the Assembly that the Governor did not seek 'explanation' in connection with any political murders in the state after the LDF government came to power. In a written reply to a set of related questions in the Assembly on Monday, the Chief Minister also said that no scary situation was prevailing in the state.

Sources said that the governor had sought reports on the political violence on a couple of occasions. But the Assembly question was whether the governor sought 'explanation' Hence the Chief Minister replied in the negative. The chief minister also said in the reply to Congress MLAs including K Muraleedharan that there was no situation where the police was unable to enforce law and order owing to the involvement of activists of ruling parties in the state and the Centre in political violence.

The government also did not come across allegations that political murders were recurring in the state due to lapses of the Home Department. Only isolated incidents took place in the state and owing to the swift stringent actions of the police, the violence could be curbed from spreading, the Chief Minister said.
