Belated school reopening in Malappuram with a bang
MALAPPURAM: As many as 1,357 government and aided schools and 116 CBSE affiliated schools will reopen across the district on Tuesday after it was postponed for more than a week in the wake of Nipah alert. According to the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, the number of students who have newly joined government run schools have increased as compared to last year’s statistics while the number has come down in the case of unaided schools.
22,285 students have joined the first standard in government schools while the number is 34,278 in aided schools. At the same time, the number of newly joined first standard students at unaided schools has come down to 10,060 from last year’s 11,772. The schools have arranged various initiatives to welcome the belated beginning of the new academic session. ‘Hello English’ programme which is meant to improve English language skills in lower classes itself will also be rolled out across all the primary classes of the government run and aided schools on Tuesday, the first day of the academic year.
The project, which was piloted last year in selected schools, would be in full swing from this year. Teachers of primary classes have been given special training as part of the project and a training institute will also be opened in Perinthalmanna soon, said SSA district project officer N. Nasar. Besides this, green initiative 'Haritholsavam' and a two day community living camp tittled ‘Kollameemazha’ also would be held in schools. District level ‘Praveshanolsavam’ will be held in K.M.G.U.P School at Tavanur. Local self government minister K.T. Jaleel will inaugurate the event and district panchayat president A.P. Unnikrishnan will preside.
