ACB finds Rs 20 crore with deputy executive engineer
Visakhapatnam: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Monday found over Rs 20 crore of illegal assets belonging to Srikakulam Municipal Corporation deputy executive engineer Gottumukkala Srinivasa Kumar.
The ACB sleuths raided the houses of the 52-year-old officer and his relatives simultaneously in ten places including in Vizag, Srikakulam, Bheemavaram and Palakollu.
They arrested the accused for possessing disproportionate assets over and above his known sources of income.
The seized illegal assets, including cash, gold, land holdings, houses and few others. Though the assets are said to be worth around Rs 1.64 crore as per the registration value (document value), they are estimated to worth in excess of Rs 20 crore as per market rates.
ACB director-general R.P. Thakur said the assets that they had seized in the name of the accused include a residential flat of 1,085 sqft. in North Extension, Seethammadhara in Vizag and agriculture land of 6.82 acres at Kovvali village in West Godavari district.
Srinivasa Kumar had joined as a works inspector in the municipal administration and urban development department around three decades back for a modest salary and rose to deputy executive engineer in 2017. He used to get huge kickbacks for allocating the works to the contractors. He will be produced before the ACB Special Court on Tuesday.
