No rain in Chennai for next two days

Weather blogger T. Gokul said the city temperature would hover around 38 degrees Celsius and will be marginally above normal.

Chennai: Chennai on Saturday blazed at 37.2 degrees Celsius and residents found no respite from the sultry weather, as the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecast that there would be no rainfall activity for the next 2 days.

Contrastingly, southern districts close to Western Ghats including Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Kanyakumari will receive copious rainfall due to the influence of South West monsoon that was set in Kerala.

“As the southwest monsoon is active over Karnataka- Kerala coast, heavy rainfall will be seen in isolated places of Southern Tamil Nadu,” said S. Balachandran, director of RMC. Weather blogger T. Gokul said the city temperature would hover around 38 degrees Celsius and will be marginally above normal.

“Recent rains were a relief to the city that felt like a microwave oven. I hope the June rains in the city resumes to keep the temperatures on check,” said K. Easwaran, a marketing agent.
