Congress leader Shabbir Ali, says BJP chief's claims misleading

Shabbir Ali accused the BJP president of trying to mislead the people of Telangana with wrong statistics and claims.

Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in the TS Legislative Council Mohd. Ali Shabbir on Saturday described BJP national president Amit Shah’s speech at Suryapet on Friday as a “bundle of lies”. Addressing a press conference at the Gandhi Bhavan here, Mr Shabbir Ali accused the BJP president of trying to mislead the people of TS with wrong statistics and claims. He said Amit Shah has no moral right to speak on Telangana.

“The BJP-led NDA government failed to fulfil even a single major promise mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act. Be it the 4,000 MW NTPC power plant, railway coach factory at Kazipet, revival of the Ramagundem fertilizer plant or bifurcation of the High Court, the NDA government has failed on all fronts. TS has been ignored in distribution of drought relief and also in Union Budgets, Railway Budgets, NITI-Aayog, Smart Cities and all other Central schemes,” the Congress leader alleged.

He demanded that Amit Shah disclose the details of the Rs 90,000 crore that he claimed was released by the Centre for TS. “People of Telangana did not receive them and the TRS government is silent about them. Therefore, either Amit Shah is lying or the TRS government has swindled those funds,” Mr Shabbir Ali said, adding that the people have the right to know how those funds were utilised.
