30 schoolchildren injured after auto topples in Nanjangud

Most of the children have suffered fractures in their hands and legs.

Mysuru: Thirty schoolchildren were injured when a goods autorickshaw they were travelling in overturned near Chamarajanagar on Saturday afternoon. All the 30 children from Hospura and Betegowdanapura are studying at the Government High School in Kasuvinahalli.

While 25 children are being treated at the Nanjangud Government Hospital, five – Preethi, Jyothi, Kavitha, Abhilasha and Siddaraja, who are said to be critical – have been shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru. Most of the children have suffered fractures in their hands and legs, said Dr Vijaynarasimha of Nanjangud Government hospital.

The children, who were waiting for a KSRTC bus after school, got into the goods autorickshaw to reach home when the accident occurred. The auto ran for just a kilometre before overturning at a curve near Hospura.
