Special CS for appointment of retired medical staff

VIJAYAWADA: Special chief secretary (health) M.T. Krishna Babu on Thursday called upon doctors to provide patients with better healthcare.

Participating in the valedictory session of the two-day training programme for principals of government medical colleges and superintendents of teaching hospitals, he asked all healthcare staff to follow the timings stipulated for their duties on any given day.

Krishna Babu underlined that the out-patient ward must run up to 2 p.m., unlike the present practice of closing it at 12 noon. He asked doctors to remain available for patients up to 4 p.m. on any day.

The special CS said principals and medical superintendents must coordinate and ensure that better healthcare is available to patients and all functionalities are working properly.

He pointed out that the state government has recruited over 48,000 health personnel in the state. He underlined that no sanctioned post must lie vacant under any circumstances. If necessary, the state government will even appoint retired officers to supervise maintenance, sanitation and security at hospitals, he stated.

Krishna Babu wanted the store's department to avoid any shortage of medicines as well as surgical items. He said the state government has allotted ₹200 crore for the purpose. He further said for emergency works, the state government is releasing ₹2–3 crore based on proposals and the size of the health institutions.
