Andhra Pradesh: Volunteers told to focus on achieving 100% enrolment

VIJAYAWADA: Principal secretary of the school education department Praveen Prakash directed all district collectors and district education officers to focus on implementing a 100% gross enrolment ratio (GER) campaign across the state by utilising the services of village/ward secretariats.

In this regard, he asked to create a competition among the village and ward secretariat to self-declare themselves as 100% GER achievers. He stated that a village and ward secretariat can be a 100% GER achiever, if every child born between September 1, 2005 and August 31, 2018 in his/her jurisdiction is either in the school/college from class 1 to 12 (equivalent ) or has passed class 12 (equivalent).

Praveen Prakash instructed officials to ensure that not a single child is left behind without getting enrolled in school or college. He said that all enrolments must be reviewed in a two-tier process, one is the child-wise tracking and the other by monitoring the number of secretariats declaring themselves as 100% GER achievers.

Praveen Prakash also directed the officials to utilise the services of volunteers and train them accordingly, where each volunteer can be a 100% GER achiever if, all the children who are born between September 1, 2005 and August 31, 2018 among all 50 households which they handle, are enrolled in the portal of the school education department, Intermediate Board, Polytechnic, and ITI.
