Modi can be conquered with ‘pyar ki jhappi’, says Rahul Gandhi

“He (Mr Modi) talks with hatred and anger about my grandmother, and my great grandmother. But, I go and give him a hug”, he said.

Bhopal: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said he would defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi with “pyar ki jhappi” (hug with love). Addressing an election meeting at Amjore under Dhar Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh, Mr Gandhi said that BJP, RSS and Mr Modi had hatred for him and his family.

“He (Mr Modi) talks with hatred and anger about my grandmother, and my great grandmother. But, I go and give him a hug”, he said. “You are a Prime Minister. You must shun hatred and work with love”, he said, adding, “I will conquer them (Mr Modi, BJP and RSS) with love. The more he (Mr Modi) hates me and Congress, the more number of times I will give him ‘pyar ki jhappi’”.

Mr Gandhi also dared the PM to join him a debate on corruption, demonetization, Goods and Sales Tax (GST) and farm crisis.

He said Mr Modi talked about nationalism and Pulwama attack, but skipped Rafale deal issue in his speeches.

He said the ongoing elections were witnessing an ideological clash between BJP-RSS and progressive forces in the country.

“Congress is fighting against an ideology that is a threat to Constitution”, he added.

Mr Gandhi said demonetization and GST have derailed the economy of the country.

He said Congress if returned to power at the Centre would simplify GST to serve the interest of business people.

He said the Nyay yojana promising Rs 72,000 per annum to the poor, mulled by his party would put economy of the country back on rail, besides uplifting the poor.
