Hyderabad: Panel to study hiring row in power firms

The petitioners urged the court to impose stay on all proceedings with respect to the filling up of the posts.

Hyderabad: The High Court has directed the Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSNPDCL) to refer the question paper given by it for the recruitment of junior accounts officers to the expert committee along with objections about the preliminary key.

Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili passed these directions on petitions filed by several aspirants complaining that the authorities concerned had failed to take proper care in conducting the examination on July 22, 2018, for the posts of 107 junior accounts officers (JAO) as per the notification dated May 31.

The petitioners alleged that there were several discrepancies in the question papers, including not following the prescribed syllabus weightage as mentioned in the notification. Several Telugu medium aspirants challenged the use of inapplicable and improper usage of Telugu in the exam as it was literally translated from English.

The petitioners urged the court to impose stay on all proceedings with respect to the filling up of the posts. Senior counsel Vidya Sagar, appearing for TSNPDCL, contended that the petitions were not maintainable as the petitioners had not filed objections to the preliminary key. When the company was about to finalise the selections, the petitioners obtained a stay on the entire process, he said, and submitted that the results were not declared so far.

Considering the submissions by both parties, the court directed the TSNPDCL to refer the questions to an expert committee which would examine the objections within a reasonable time.
