BJP to form Xian protection force
Kochi: The BJP in the state has decided to don the mantle of protectors of Christians at the receiving end of what it termed as global terrorism. As a first step in this direction the Bharatiya Janata Minority Morcha of the BJP will organise one-day fast and a prayer session at Mother Teresa Square near High Court Junction in Kochi on May 29 for the victims of Sri Lankan Church bombings on the Easter day.
The decision was taken at a state-level meeting of the Morcha held in Kochi on Saturday. The fasting and prayer will coincide with the 40th day of the incident.
BJP state president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai while addressing the meeting of the Morcha has said representatives from all sections of the Christians will be attending the event at Kochi. The event will be a major protest against the terror facing the Christians, he said.
According to the Christain belief the dead persons begins their heavenly journey on the 40th day and the protest in Kochi was organized in tune with this Christian tradition, Mr. Pillai said. A release issued by the Morcha said the 40th day will be observed as anti-terror day in solidarity with the victims.
The observation of solidarity with the victims of the Easter bombings is a prelude to BJP in the state making a focused approach to make inroads into Christian community in the state using the anti-terror platform as launching pad.
