Hyderabad: Three members of a family, including an RMP doctor, committed suicide in Mahbubnagar district on Thursday. Police said Dr Samala Lakshmi-narayana and the others consumed poison. The move is suspected to be a result of financial problems. The deceased were identified as wife Alivelamma and daughter Supraja. His son, Balaraju, is working in Shadnagar.
Dr Lakshminarayana was a TRS party member and was earlier president of the party’s Nawabpet town wing. According to Nawabpet SI A. Praveen Kumar, the man had been working as an RMP doctor there for more than three decades and was known to many in surrounding villages.
For the past few months he was worried as his daughter who completed her graduation was not getting proper alliances for marriage. He was burdened financially.
Every pournami, Lakshminarayana his wife and daughter would go to a temple in Rameswaram near Shadnagar. On the way back, they stopped their vehicle. Sitting under a mango tree, they mixed the poison pills which they carried with them in water and drank and ended their lives.
