Group-II TSPSC, and a long wait for results

Candidates allege that it was more than six months, and it seemed there was no end to their wait.

Hyderabad: Group-II aspirants from Telangana allege that the TSPSC has not announced the results for the examinations conducted in November, 2016. TSPSC had hosted a recruitment notification for 1,032 Group-II vacancies and conducted a preliminary examination from November 11 to 13, 2016.

Candidates allege that it was more than six months, and it seemed there was no end to their wait. According to them, if the results were announced, they could have concentrated on something else or could have prepared for the interview.

TSPSC Group-II answer key was released on December 14, 2016, and it also invited applications to challenge the answer key from the contestants. TSPSC finally released the Group II answer key on April 14, 2017, and completed the re-verification of answer key process; but the results are still awaited.

Srinivas Namani, a Group-II aspirant awaiting the result, said, “I was preparing for the exams since two years and appeared for it in November 2016. The results were expected in February 2017, but I am still awaiting the results. After formation of Telangana, the first Group- II notification came in 2015, and the exams which were about to happen in April 2016 were finally held in November-2016.’’

He adds, “There were instructions that students should not use whiteners for corrections in the exams, but still they used this, and have done bubbling mistakes. Later, a few candidates filed a petition in court, saying the answers which were corrected with whitener must also be taken into consideration. The high court has studied the case and given the green signal in favour of the TSPSC. Still, there is no end to our wait. How long should we wait for the results?”

K Gopal, a Group- II aspirant from Nallakunta, said, “The exam was conducted in November 2016. Later it was promised that the results will be out in two months. It again got delayed due to court case filed by a few candidates. The court gave its verdict on April 24, 2017; but the results are not out and hence we are facing problems. We are not able to do other jobs. Neither are we able to concentrate on the interviews after we qualify in the exam.’’

“I left home in 2014 and came to Hyderabad to prepare for Group-II. I am not able to go back as my family and villagers ask me for my results. This is quite humiliating. Like the UPSC that has a calendar, wherein they announce notification dates, TSPSC too should have a calendar to announce its dates, so that aspirants like us can plan our career accordingly. Neither is the TSPSC conducting other competitive examinations nor are they announcing results for the already conducted examinations,’’ said Gopal.

TSPSC officials said the results were delayed because a few candidates had filed the petitions in court saying the answers which were corrected with whitener must also be taken as valid. “So we were waiting for the high court verdict, which came in favour of the TSPSC on April 24. So, the results will be announced soon.”

Telangana state public service commission (TSPSC) chairman Ghanta Chakrapani said, “We were waiting for the high court verdict. Now that the verdict is out, we will finish the process and the results will be out soon.’’
