Kerala: BJP brass to meet ahead of Amit Shah visit

Mr Shah is expected to lay the foundation stone of the new BJP headquarters at Mararji Bhavan near Aristo Junction here.

Thiruvananthapuram: Coinciding with the three-day visit of BJP national president Amit Shah to the state June 2-4, BJP state core committee will take place in the capital city on Friday morning. BJP national organising joint general secretary B. L. Santhosh will also be attending the core committee meeting.
Mr Shah is coming to Kerala as part of his 95-day countrywide tour on a mission to make India "Congress-free."

His main agenda is to prepare the BJP across the country for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Contrary to Amit Shah’s earlier visits, this time he will not be attending any public rallies. He will be concentrating on organisational meetings at various levels right from the booth committees.

Mr Shah is expected to lay the foundation stone of the new BJP headquarters at Mararji Bhavan near Aristo Junction here.

A top BJP leader told DC that Friday’s core committee meeting would decide on its exact date.

“It is most likely on June 4 at 10 am. If not, it can happen on June 2," a top leader told DC. "We will finalise his itinerary at Friday’s core committee meeting convened for the purpose.”

Already, BJP central leadership has come out with a slogan: ‘This time it is Bengal" targeting the former left bastion, after their victory in Uttar Pradesh.
For the first time, Shah will be camping in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep for three days. It was during the former state president P.K. Krishnadas’s tenure as national secretary the party started forming units on the islands.

“If earlier only Kavaratti and Minicoy had units, now we have a presence in the remaining ten islands inhabited by people out of 36 in the archipelago. He will be holding a public meeting on Kavaratti during his trip next month,” he told DC.
