Telangana: Many from BPL families ace civil services exams

Overcoming their financial troubles, they reached their goal through concentration and hard work.

Hyderabad: Several top rankers in the civil services exams, the results of which were announced on Tuesday, come from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. Overcoming their financial troubles, they reached their goal through concentration and hard work.

Mr Ijjada Madhusudhan Rao from Jaggampet in East Godavari, is an auto-rickshaw driver’s son. He got 658 rank and is targeting IAS by utilising remaining four attempts. Due to his poor financial background, he could not afford coaching. But CSIR fellowship (Rs 35,000 per month) and two government jobs after 2013 increased his hopes.

“I got a job in IB in 2013. Later, I prepared for APPSC and got a job as lecturer (assistant professor) at the Government Model Degree College,” he said.
He added that he was not satisfied with the rank, which would offer IRS (IT). “I must try for IAS with better coaching,” he said.

Another ranker with a 363 rank, Mr Kandi Praveen, is from a tenant farmer’s family in Edubayyaram village of Pinapaka mandal in Khammam district. He joined a coaching centre just six months before the exams. He got a job in 2012 in the AG office as auditor and has been attempting the Civils since 2012.

He failed in the interview in 2012. “I did not succeed in 2013 and 2014. While attempting Civils in 2015, I took leave for six months for coaching for the interview. I may get IRS but will try for IAS,” he said.

Similarly, a retired attendant from the Disabled Welfare Department, Mr Adire Dharmaiah’s daughter Ms Adire Manju, got 291 rank in her first attempt. The B.Tech graduate from OU is from Jinugupally village in Lingala mandal of Mahabubnagar district and settled in Hyderabad due to her father’s job.
A police inspector in APCID, Mr Munikoti Bucchiraju’s son Mr Munikoti Raviteja got 678 rank. He is ECE engineer.
