Chennai: Headmasters' body seeks MBBS admission on plus-2 marks

Poor and rural students from government schools will get affected by this order, it said.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu High and Higher Secondary Schools' Headmasters Association urged the Central and state governments to make admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the state on the basis of plus-2 marks.

"For several years in Tamil Nadu the admission to the medical courses was done on the basis of plus two marks. Supreme Court's order of common medical entrance test has shocked students aspiring of joining medical courses," the association said.

Poor and rural students from government schools will get affected by this order, it said. In a press release on Wednesday, it urged the governments to resolve the issue by either filing review petitions in the Supreme Court or approach the President for suitable corrections in the order.

"The government has to make sure that medical admissions in Tamil Nadu are done on the basis of plus-2 marks alone and to remove the mental stress of the parents and students," the association demanded.
