HC to hear Centre's petitions against IAS, IPS postings after summer break
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday adjourned a batch of petitions filed by the Central government, challenging the orders of the Central Administrative Tribunal-Hyderabad on allotment of IAS and IPS officers, to June 5.
A division bench of Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili and Justice Pulla Karthik ruled that more time was required to hear the petitions and said it would take it up after summer vacation.
The came comes against the backdrop of the High Court recently transferring Somesh Kumar from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh, and it holds significance as a ruling in this regard may also affect the role of the current Telangana Director General of Police, Somesh Kumar.
The petitions also pertain to IAS officers C. Hari Kiran, G. Anantha Ramulu, Mallella Prashanti, Karuna Vakati, A. Vani Prasad, D. Donald Rose, Srijana Gummalla, Sivashankar Loheti, Shamsher Singh Rawar and Amrapali Kota, and IPS officer Abilasha Bisht.
The officers mentioned above, who were allocated to Andhra Pradesh after Telangana was carved out, approached the CAT-Hyderabad, which allowed them to continue in Telangana, as per their choice.
On Wednesday, the Additional Solicitor General of southern states, Shankar Narayana, brought to the notice of the court that arguments and conditions in the Somesh Kumar case would apply to all the above-mentioned officers and requested the court to issue orders as a covered matter.
However, the counsels for the said IAS and IPS officers refuted the arguments of the Union government’s counsel and submitted that the earlier bench also clearly said these matters do not fall under covered matters.
