Will never sell myself to TRS: Porika Balram Naik

Mr Naik was walking along with some of his followers to a polling station in Mahbubabad to cast his vote on Thursday.

WARANGAL: Enraged over rumours circulated that the Congress candidate from Mahbubabad parliament constituency, Porika Balram Naik, was going to join the TRS, the former union minister went about Mahbubabad town telling everyone on the streets that he was not going to sell himself to the TRS. He said it was Dornakal MLA Redya Naik and his daughter and TRS candidate Maloth Kavitha who sold themselves to the TRS five years back.

Mr Naik was walking along with some of his followers to a polling station in Mahbubabad to cast his vote on Thursday. Noticing some TRS party workers moving nearby he shouted in their direction, “They are spreading false rumours against me that I would join the TRS party. I am not the kind who is going to sell myself. It is Redya Naik who sold himself. Shame on them for being so greedy for money and power.”

Mr Naik has been unhappy with his own party lately and has openly stated that the Congress party had abandoned the Mahbubabad parliament segment. While the TRS party campaign was studded with visits of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao and K.T. Rama Rao along with road shows every day with top leaders, the Congress party’s campaign lacked vigour with the star campaigners staying away from Mahbubabad constituency.

This is the third time Balram Naik is contesting for the Mahbubabad parliament seat. He previously contested and won the parliament seat during the 2009 elections but was later defeated in 2014. He is once again testing his luck in 2019 after failing to win the Mahbubabad assembly seat in 2018.
