Hyderabad: 6 Congressmen arrested for campaigning

The KPHB police said they were found to be trying to influence voters by asking them to vote for the Congress.

Hyderabad: Six persons, who were trying to influence voters at polling stations by asking them to vote for the Congress, were held by the KPHB police on Thursday.

Just before polling started, the police personnel at the GHMC ward office in KPHB noticed the six persons wearing white T-shirts printed with the slogan ‘your vote your right’ near the polling stations 324, 325, 327 and 328.

The KPHB police said they were found to be trying to influence voters by asking them to vote for the Congress. They were taken into custody immediately for violating the model code of conduct and police orders.

The six have been identified as Dasari Siddaiah, 21, Byagari Srikanth, 21, Thurupu Srishailam, 23, and Byagari Ramesh, 21, of Mahbubnagar, Reddy Srinivas, 29, of Tarnaka, and Chandrakar Surya Prakash Reddy, 30, of Vikarabad.

“A case has been registered against the offenders and they have been taken into police custody for the violation of the Model Code of Conduct and the orders issued by the police,” said the police.
