Apollo vice-chairperson’s vote deleted, 2 officials suspended

We have suspended the computer operator and booth-level officer for deleting Ms Kamenini’s name.

Hyderabad: The GHMC has suspended two employees for the deletion of the name of Apollo Hospitals vice-chairperson Shobana Kamineni.

Ms Kamineni had said her name was in the voters list till the last week. She returned from the US to vote, only to find that her name was missing. She reportedly escalated the matter to the Election Commission.

Following this, Hyderabad district election officer and the GHMC commissioner, M. Dana Kishore, the, said two personnel had been suspended.

“We have suspended the computer operator and booth-level officer for deleting Ms Kamenini’s name. The voter enrolled for two EPIC cards on September 24 and 30 2017. Holding two EPIC cards is a crime. Instead of deleting the duplicate, the computer operator and the BLO deleted both the cards. Further investigation will be made into this issue.”
