Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday asked the State government to file its response with regard to the action taken with respect to recent bandhs in the state.
The court was hearing the plea of Shraddha Parents Association against the frequent bandhs in the State.They have approached the court in the ground that observing bandhs was unconstitutional and against the SC ruling and it obstructs the fundamental rights of citizens, causing hardship to their livelihood.
Meanwhile, a memo was also placed before the court indicating that call for bandh on April 12 has been postponed in the background of the Supreme Court directions.
Earlier the court orally expressed its displeasure against the state for stopping KSRTC and BMTC services during the state bandh in January this year.
"Stopping such public services is not reasonable. If this is done, it shall lead to indirectly supporting bandh. Governments should not do such things," the court orally observed further adding that the state should provide public transportation and not cause further hardship to public by stopping them.
Also, the state government submitted that it has taken all the necessary measures during the bandhs as per the earlier orders based on the Supreme Court directions. The court has adjourned the matter to April 26 while directing the state to respond on the matter in ten days.
