Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has made property transactions easier by launching the e-STAMPS module on Monday. Under this, the payment of stamp duty, transfer duty and registration fee has been made completely online. There is no need for property buyers to run around sub-registrar offices and State Bank of India branches to pay registration charges. They can make all payments online from the comfort of their home/ internet centre using net banking, credit, debit cards.
They need to visit sub registrar office only once for property registration. At present, property buyers are forced to visit sub-registrar offices multiple times to find out registration charges, stamp duty, transfer duty etc, They need to visit designated SBI branch to pay the challan before registration. For 141 sub-registrar offices across the state, there were 141 designated SBI branches, where buyers would go and wait for hours to pay the challan. The stamps and registration department has now relaxed this for the convenience of buyers. Buyers can now pay challans in any of the SBI branches across the state, which has a network of over 900 branches, if they want to pay in offline mode.
They can also book registration slot online, get the property registration done in that slot without waiting for hours at registration offices.
Deputy CM and revenue minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, who launched the new online method at Secretariat on Monday, said, “The revenue department is trying to use new technologies to make property transactions easier and faster. These new initiatives will check corruption besides making property transactions transparent. These initiatives are being launched in a phased-manner since August 2015. In the coming months, the stamps and registration, revenue departments would be made 100 per cent online.”
He said people can directly log on to http://registration.telangana.gov.in to make online payments. Even offline payments can be made in any of the 900-plus branches of SBI. “The new facility will check the menace of fake challans. There will be no scope for any manipulations unlike earlier when such cases were reported,” Mr Ali added.
