Nagole-Mettuguda stretch of Metro Rail awaiting clearance for operations

Different teams have inspected the various operations but some more clearances are required.

Hyderabad: A team from Railway Board inspected the Nagole-Mettuguda stretch of the Metro Rail but some more clearances are required before commencing commercial operations, officials said. “There are various teams, which have inspected the operations but some more clearances are required,” said Mr V.B. Gadgil, L&T Metro Rail managing director. To a question if the Metro Rail from Nagole to Mettuguda would start from June 2, both Mr Gadgil and Mr N.V.S. Reddy, managing director, Hyderabad Metro Rail, declined comment.

The senior officials are not willing to give any commitment on the date of starting of commercial operations of the Metro Rail. “Railway safety certificate is a process and it will be carried out in due course. There is one team which has inspected the premises and there will be another team from the Metro Rail department in Delhi which will inspect operations. All these procedures will take time. If the government is keen to start operations from June 2 the process at the Central level must be expedited,” said a senior government official.

While Nagole to Mettuguda is completely ready the other stretch from Miyapur to S.R. Nagar is also being completed. “We are trying to finish Miyapur to SR Nagar too. Once commercial operations begin from Nagole to Mettuguda even this stretch can be made operational,” said an official.
