New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday offering one million litres of water per day for drought-hit Latur for next two months.
Expressing his concern, Kejriwal said that though Delhi is reeling under water shortage, it is willing to help Latur against all odds.
Pained by the prevailing condition in Latur, Kejriwal wrote, “The people of Delhi are ready to give 10 lakh litres (1 million liters) of water to Latur per day. If the central government can make arrangements to send this water to Latur, the Delhi Government will make this water available immediately.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Kejriwal discussed the drought issue with Water Minister Kapil Mishra, who said Delhi Jal Board (DJB) is ready to send water to the parched district.
A senior official said the government will approach Railways to provide it a train to send water to the drought-hit district.
Before the meeting, Kejriwal in a tweet appealed to Delhiiites to save water for the people in Latur.
"Severe water crisis in Latur. We all shud help. Are all Delhiites ready to save some water daily to send it for our people in Latur?," the Chief Minister tweeted.
Replying to Kejriwal's tweet, Mishra tweeted, "DJB is ready sir. We can save water and send it for our brothers and sisters in Latur."
