Warangal: The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are foolproof and cannot be tampered with or manipulated. Political representatives and people must not believe the rumours being spread in this regard, said Warangal Urban district collector and district returning officer Prashant J. Patil.
Addressing newspersons on Monday, Mr Patil said, “There are 7,12,063 voters in the Warangal Parliamentary constituency spread over Warangal West, Warangal East and Wardhannapet Assembly constituencies. The number is expected to change as voter enrolment will go on till the last date of filing nominations, March 25. The final figure will be declared after that.”
Mr Patil has asked citizens to utilise the cVigil app to bring to notice of concerned officials about any irregularities or poll code violation. Mr Patil said, “Since the app is being monitored by officials in Hyderabad and New Delhi, complaints can be filed also against collectors and DEOs for their inaction or negligence.”
Committees have been formed to regulate the media - Media Certification and Monitoring Committee and district media certification cell and the district media monitoring cell. These committees will check the reports being published in the media and interact with the media to put out information related to the polls.
Jangaon collector T. Vinay Krishna Reddy said that the votes polled in Palakurthy and Station Ghanpur Assembly constituencies for the ensuing Parliamentary elections to the Bhongir MP seat would be counted at Warangal Urban, while the votes polled in the Jangaon Assembly constituency would be counted at Bhongir. Mr Vinay informed that the assistant returning officer of Jangaon would coordinate the election work. The counting of votes at Warangal Urban would be held at Enumamula agriculture market.
