Telangana power gets ISO certification

The objective of quality certification is to ensure safety by minimising danger to human beings, animal life and damage to the property.

Hyderabad: The state’s energy department has been awarded the quality management system certification licence according to ISO 9001-2015 standards. The licence was awarded to the energy department for implementing measures of self-certification and creating a investor-friendly environment for electrical installations in the state.

Chief Electrical Inspector A.G. Ramana Prasad had taken a string of measures for speedy processing of approvals and to ensure quality service, a release said. The quality certificate was granted on March 5 to Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi and special secretary, energy, Mr Ajay Mishra.

The department encouraged owners of electrical installations of voltage up to 650 volts and introduced self-certification. These measures led to speeding up the process and ensured transparency in the system of approvals.

With the department going online from July 11, 2017, works were being carried out speedily and delay and inconvenience caused to the industry reduced.

This helped in ensuring safety of both men and material as the application quality has been improved.

Due to various measures carried out the rate of occurrence of electrical accidents had drastically come down in the last five years, the release said.
