Kakinada: Electoral personnel told to implement poll code strictly
Kakinada: District collector Karthikeya Misra instructed electoral personnel to implement the election code strictly and warned them of stringent action, if the code was violated.
Model code of conduct is a set of guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India for conduct of political parties and candidates during elections mainly with respect to speeches, polling day, polling booths, portfolios, election manifestoes, processions and general conduct.
The collector said that electoral personnel should take video recordings in political meetings and all parties should be given equal importance in the matter of giving permissions for holding public meetings.
Mr Misra said that only persons who had got permission from the election commission would be allowed into polling booths.
Meanwhile, Kakinada RDO G. Rajakumari said that electoral personnel should provide drinking water at polling stations.
She addressed sectoral officials, flying squads, Route Officials and others here on Monday.
She said that 17 sectoral officials and 20 route officers had been deployed in Kakinada Division and these officials should keep a vigil on political parties not to pressurise voters with their gifts and other inducements.
