Hyderabad: Nayeemuddin's wife, 3 associates arrested

Rs 88.37 lakh cash, 3 cars were seized from accused.

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Rachakonda Special Operations team apprehended the wife of slain gangster Md Nayeemuddin and three associates of the latter, including a benami, when they tried to register a piece of grabbed land using Photostat copies of registration documents.

The police seized Rs 88.37 lakh in cash, three cars and mobile phones from the accused and remanded them to judicial custody.

The state police, who had foreseen that the associates of Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem may continue with their illegal activities, had put the slain gangster’s close associate and ex-councillor Pasham Srinivas, 46, of Bhongir under the Preventive Detention Act for a year till February 2018.

However, after that Srinivas along with other aides of Nayeem, Md Abdul Faheem, 40, ex-Panchayat Secretary, Md Abdul Nazer, 45, Municipal Councillor of Bhongir, Nayeem’s wife Hasina Begum, 38, and the gangster’s benami Tumma Srinivas, 47, supervisor at a private company in Gachibowli, had hatched a plan to sell the lands grabbed by Nayeem and make quick money.

After Nayeem’s death in 2016, the documents pertaining to the grabbed lands were all seized by the Special Investigation Team constituted by the state government to probe all the 182 cases booked against the gangster and his aides.

“Since the gang was not in possession of the original documents of the lands registered on benami names, they used Photostat copies to execute the sale deeds in collusion with revenue department officials, particularly to sell the five acres of land located at Bhongir town (Sy no. 730),” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said on Monday.

The Commissioner said that Mandapati Venkateshwar Rao, a resident of Bhongir had over 73 acres land, which he made into a layout as DVR Estates and sold to 1,700 people in 1993. Nayeem and his associates had taken that land from the plot owners and again made a deal to sell 68 acres of the land to Mr Rao in 2013, for Rs 18 crore. When Mr Rao failed to pay Rs 1.25 crore within the time given by Nayeem, he again grabbed 46 acres and registered the land on the names of his family members.

Following Nayeem’s death, the DVR Estates lodged a complaint at Bhongir in which three people were arrested.

“Recently, Nayeem’s wife Hasina, Pashan Srinivas, Nazer, Faheem and Thumma Srinivas made a deal to sell the five acres of land to Mr Rao for Rs 89 lakhs. They did not have the original documents, as the SIT had seized them. But, they managed to execute the sale deed using photocopies and took money from Mr Rao. When the SOT sleuths received information that the gang was at the Bhongir sub-registrar’s office to complete the registration process, they were nabbed,” the Commissioner said. The sleuths seized Rs 4 lakhs from Pasham Srinivas, Rs 40 lakh from Faheem, Rs 37.37 lakh from Hasina, Rs 5 lakh from Tumma Srinivas and Rs 2 lakh from Nazer, and also three cars, five mobile phones, two gold rings and a bracelet.

Pasham Srinivas, one of the key associates of Nayeem has 182 cases booked against him. Nazer is booked in 102 cases, Faheem is involved in 14 cases and Haseena, is booked in 51 cases. All the cases are pending trial.
