Congress meet in Gujarat to draw poll plan
Ahmedabad: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting will be held at Gandhinagar in Gujarat on Tuesday to discuss the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting would be followed by a mega rally at Adalaj town in Gandhinagar where Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to address her first public rally after entering politics.
The CWC, the highest decision-making body of the Congress, will be meeting in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the first time since 1961, after a gap of 58 years.
Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel will also join the Congress on Tuesday in the presence of party president Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile, the central election committee of the BJP is expected to meet on March 18 to decide the names of candidates for parliamentary seats going to the polls in the first phase of the total seven-part Lok Sabha polls, beginning on April 11.
With the election dates being announced, the BJP held a series of meetings on Monday to devise its poll strategy. Meetings of party spokespersons, general secretaries and also the manifesto committee headed by Union home minister Rajnath Singh were held during the day.
