Telangana Assembly to begin today, budget on 15th
Hyderabad: The Budget session of Telangana Legislature is set to begin on a stormy note on Monday with the Opposition ready to corner the TRS government on non-fulfillment of its major poll promises of providing one lakh government jobs, 12 per cent quota for Muslims, 10 per cent quota for STs, 2.70 lakh 2BKH houses for poor, distribution of 3-acre land to dalits etc.
The session with begin with Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan’s address to joint session of the Legislature.
Finance minister Etela Rajender will present Annual Budget 2018-19 on March 15. This is the last full-fledged Budget of the TRS government before general elections in 2019.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has already given enough indications of showering sops on all sections to woo the voters.
While the budget size last year was Rs 1.49 lakh crore, Mr Rao is planning a bigger budget of Rs 1.80 lakh crore in the election year.
Main opposition party Congress, BJP and the Telugu Desam are expected to obstruct the Governor’s speech to corner the TRS.
