Seat sharing talks between UDF & RSP on the rocks
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The seat sharing discussions between UDF and RSP failed to make a headway as the latter stuck to its demand for eight seats for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
The RSP leadership will have another round of meeting ahead of the UDF meeting on Monday to arrive at some kind of understanding over seats. “We could not move any further during our discussions held today. While there is no controversy over our sitting seats, more discussions are required on the other seats demanded by the party,” said RSP state secretary A A Azeez.
He said fresh round of bilateral talks will be next week to reach an understanding. The Kerala Congress (Jacob) also expressed its serious concern over the failure of UDF leadership to give Angamaly seat to its leader Johnny Nellore.
The Jacob group leader who has taken a house on rent in the constituency and also started interaction with the voters, said his party had been humiliated by the UDF leadership. Denial of Angamaly seat to him was also akin to humiliating him.
Johnny Nellore resigned from the post of chairman of Oushadhi though Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob said he came to know about his resignation through media.
The minister said he was trying to sort out the issue and hoped for an amicable solution. The Congress is not keen on granting Angamaly to Nellore who was defeated from the constituency in 2011.
