Rs 18 crore loans to Kapu beneficiaries

Nearly 3,000 Kapu beneficiaries will get Rs 18 crore loans during Kapu Runa Mela.

ANANTAPUR: Nearly 3,000 Kapu beneficiaries will get Rs 18 crore loans during Kapu Runa Mela to be held at Anantapur on Saturday. In the wake of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham threat to stage stir over injustice to the community, the state government was taking all necessary steps to make success the programme at Anantapur. This would be the second such programme to distribute loans in the state.

Elaborate arrangements are made for the occasion at the exhibition grounds near APSRTC bus station here. The official programme of Kapu Runa Mela is led by the collector and other district officials. Deputy Chief Minister Chinna Rajappa, and ministers Kollu Ravindra, Ganta Sreenivasa Rao along with district ministers Palle Raghunath Reddy and Paritala Sunitha would take part in the distribution of loans to Kapu community people.

Anantapur joint collector B. Lakshmikantham said 3,000 beneficiaries would receive loans under the newly introduced programme. The beneficiaries have to pay 50 per cent of share while remaining 50 per cent will be distributed as subsidy for the eligible beneficiaries. Collector Kona Sasidhar who inspected the venue directed the Anantapur municipal commissioner Obulesu to provide drinking water at the venue following hot summer. Exhibition stalls on state government programmes would be established on the occasion, the collector said.
