Hyderabad High Court paves way for civic polls

Aggrieved by the order, the villagers moved a plea before the High Court.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday paved the way for elections to the Siddipet municipality by dismissing a plea challenging the merger of five villages into the municipality.

The erstwhile AP government had in January 2012 issued orders merging Prashanthnagar, Hanumannagar, Gadi Cherlapalli, Imambad and Rangarathampally villages into the municipality.

Aggrieved by the order, the villagers moved a plea before the High Court. Earlier, the court granted a stay on the election and on Friday it dismissed the PIL, vacating the earlier interim orders.
