Hyderabad: Following counselling by health minister C. Laxma Reddy, the family of a daily wage worker who was declared brain dead donated five of his organs.
Mamula Shekhar, 35, from the minister’s native place Gangapur in Jadcherla mandal, was injured when he fell off an electric pole. He was was declared brain dead at the Osmania General Hospital on Friday.
The minister met Shekhar’s wife M. Dhanamma and other family members and counselled them to donate Shekhar’s organs. Following this, the family agreed to donate Shekhar’s two kidneys, liver and two eyes.
