K Chandrasekhar Rao seeks report on vacant posts

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao advised officials not to remove taxi stands, street vendors, pavement dwellers, pavement markets, forcibly without showing them an alternative. He wanted the collectors to evolve a policy for street vendors and told to be humane in their approach.

Mr Rao told the collectors to construct at least vegetable and meat markets in corporations and at least one in the smaller towns. He was addressing the collectors conference at Pragathi Bhavan.

On other issues, Mr Rao asked the municipal administration department to submit a report on the vacant posts in its ranks. Mr Rao said, “the government is ready to fill up vacancies in the municipalities as it did for the panchayat raj department. The municipal administration department should submit a report to the government on the vacant posts.”

Stating that collectors had been empowered through the municipal and panchayat raj Acts, Mr Rao said that the state government was of the firm opinion that administration can be streamlined by strengthening the institution of collectors.

It was said that the government had decided to provide a wireless network to the top district administration to be in regular touch with the collectors and other officials.

During the post-lunch session, the Chief Minister held the collectors responsible to rectify the revenue records, some of which are not in proper shape. There was no dispute with regard to 95 per cent of the land parcels, he said.
