We will provide set top boxes for colour TVs, says Duraimurugan
Chennai: Many eyebrows were raised in the Assembly when DMK treasurer and Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly Duraimurugan remarked that his party would provide free set top boxes if it was elected to power.
Initiating a debate on the budget in the Assembly on Monday, AIADMK MLA I. S. Inbadurai while attempting to make the DMK’s achievements seem insignificant remarked that the previous DMK regime had only distributed free colour television sets to the people. “But it was the AIADMK government that had given (24 hour) power supply to the people,” Inbadurai stated recalling the achievements of the AIADMK.
At this, Duraimurugan stood up and commented, “what you say is true. The colour TVs that we gave (in 2006) are still functioning. We will give away set top boxes for free to the people if our party is elected to power.”
