Telangana Advocates to protest for their demands
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court Advocates Association on Monday resolved unanimously to support the Bar Council of India which has called for a nationwide demonstration by bar associations on February 12 to protest in support of their demand for insurance, mediclaim, pension, stipend and other welfare measures for lawyers.
The association members decided to abstain from court work on Tuesday and to participate in the protest march to Raj Bhavan under the supervision of the Bar Council of Telangana. The protest is expected to see the participation of 1.7 million lawyers nationwide.
The demands raised in the joint meeting of Bar Council of India and the state bar councils on February 2 were medical facility, insurance, pension schemes and Advocate Protection Act.
