Nearly 130 saree clad women took part in the 3-km run on the 100 Feet Road.

Bengaluru: To support breast cancer awareness and to celebrate the strength and wellness of women, Taneira, in association with Pinkathon organised ‘The Saree Run’ on Sunday morning in Indiranagar. Nearly 130 saree clad women took part in the 3-km run on the 100 Feet Road.

The team warmed up with a fun Zumba session. “The Taneira brand is all about celebrating a 5,000-year-old garment, which India is very proud of,” said Ajoy Chawla, SVP - Strategy & Business Incubation at TITAN.

Pragya Prasun, an acid attack survivor who now runs a rehabilitation centre for such victims, said, “Life can sometimes throw you under the bus. It is in times like these that you learn to get back up on your feet and show gratitude for what you have. The Saree Run is a great initiative by Taneira and Pinkathon to show our support for breast cancer awareness.”

Anju Kadam, founder of The 100 Saree Pact and the brand ambassador of Pinkathon said, “Women all over the world built the saree narrative by telling stories of their lives on the #100sareepact through the medium of the saree: Stories of strength, hope, resolute will and of the celebrations of ourselves. These stories have inspired more women to believe that their voice matters that they have it within them to do anything they resolve to do.”

Nagarathna Bhat, who is visually challenged and has taken part in many marathons, including Pinkathon, claimed she has been running barefoot for the past one year. She said that in Pinkathons 120 visually challenged woman take part and all of them have their guides, who run with them.
