Medical negligence: Probe team may submit report today

ALAPPUZHA: The medical team investigating the post-delivery death of a woman allegedly after medical negligence at Medical College Hospital here is likely to submit its report to the health minister by Monday. The team led by Kottayam Medical College Gynaecology department head Dr C.P. Vijayan began the probe on Thursday.

They took statements of 33 people including officials, doctors, nurses, her relatives and husband and received the forensic report. Dr A. Ramla Beevi, director of medical education, said she received the report on Friday. Barbara, 36, wife of Sibichan, died on Monday, two weeks after delivering a baby girl, while undergoing treatment for post-delivery complications. The Ambalapuzha police had earlier registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC ) Act based on her husband's complaint.
