Hyderabad: Crematorium for animals soon
Hyderabad: Bidding farewell to beloved pets is difficult, but it is even more heart-breaking for their owners not to be able to cremate them with dignity. A dog lover tweeted to minister of municipal administration and urban development (MAUD) K. T. Rama Rao to request for an animal crematorium in the city.
Mr Nitin Bhatia, founder of FACET Façade Consultancy, wrote, “City doesn’t have a dog or animal crematorium, do you think one could be set up? Can the government help with land? Happy to get local community involved to help fund (sic)” Obliging the user, Mr Rao asked GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy and West Zone commissioner Harichandana Dasari to prepare a concept note on how that could be done. The minister said, “Can you start working on this? Come and see me with a concept note.”
While Mr Bhatia thanked Mr Rao for the prompt response, Mrs Dasari noted down the request to proceed further. If the proposal works out, Hyderabad may get the first crematorium for animals. Meanwhile, the minister also requested people to participate in the Swachh Survekshan drive.
