Rahul's statement 'a reaction to Modi's' remark: Congress
Lucknow: Amid the ongoing assembly elections in five states of the country, the war of words between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is taking a new turn every single day.
Counter-attacking Prime Minister Modi over his 'google' jibe, Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the Prime Minister loves surfing on Google, reading horoscopes and peeping into people's bathrooms.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may have found yet another issue to target Rahul with, the Congress fully supports him.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday said Rahul Gandhi's comment was a reaction to what Prime Minister Modi has been saying at election rallies.
"The reaction would be similar to the action. Election rallies are different, but there is a dignity of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha that should be maintained. PM Modi goes to every state and fights with the state leaders. No other Prime Minister in the history of the country. You should tell what schemes you have initiated and implemented in the nation, not comment on others," Kharge told ANI.
"I think you can criticise a party on the basis of its ideology. But ridiculing the members and targeting the specific person is unbecoming of a position like Prime Minister's. These kind of comments, statements can be fruitfully made on the Panchayat-level, district-level, state-level, but when you are involved in politics of the national level, there is a decorum that should be followed. When I met him recently, I told him that his comments were unsavory. You're talking about a person who resurrected the economy when it was in sham after 1989. The credit of bringing the economy from that state till the present goes to the UPA government and we must give the credit where it's due," he added.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi also said the former resorts to the strategy of 'distraction' when he does not have answers to questions.
