Law Academy Law College gate dismantled
Thiruvananthapuram: The management of Law Academy Law College on Saturday demolished the main gate constructed on government land following a notice issued by the revenue department. However, the wall of the college, also built on government land, is yet to be demolished.
The revenue department identified 28 cents of land in Survey Number 726-5 as constructed on government land assigned to the Kerala Water Authority. The revenue department also directed the academy to explain how a cooperative bank and hotel are functioning in the buildings inside the campus. The district administration had on Friday issued a directive to the Law Academy to demolish the gate based on a report by revenue principal secretary P.H. Kurien.
Meanwhile, the Standing Committee on affiliation has started to inspect the affiliation of the college in the wake of ambiguity over the status of the institution. The decision was based on a directive of the Kerala University syndicate. Another issue being inspected by the committee was on the issue of a bylaw governing the academy. As per the statute of the university, the college should inform the university any changes in the bylaw. This has not been followed in the case of the academy.
