Kerala: CET student team wins architecture awards

NASA is an association of undergraduate students of architecture in India.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A team of 38 students and two faculty members of architecture department of College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, have won the annual NASA design competition (ANDC). NASA is an association of undergraduate students of architecture in India. The 59th ANDC was held at Poornima University in Jaipur recently.

The primary objective of NASA India is to create a platform for them to learn and interact and engage them directly and indirectly through both online and offline platforms. Albi Joseph, the unit secretary of CET, said the credit for receiving the coveted award goes to the team, students of fourth and fifth semesters. Professors Sharat Sunder Rajeev and Shruti Satheesan attended the convention which involved various workshops, competitions and a multitude of events.

“The overall champions of the 58th annual NASA event have brought home a few of the most celebrated trophies as a feather in the cap this time. It was after 18 long years that the CET had bagged the first place at the NASA design competition, for the representations of a city in a unique way, pronouncing its cultural essence,” said Dr Manoj Kumar Kini, urban designer and faculty in charge of the master's programme in urban design at CET. They also won the Lauri Baker trophy and got shortlisted on top lists for Reubens’ trophy, Landscape trophy and Unknown craftsperson trophy.
