RK Pachauri goes on leave
NEW DELHI: A day after the appointment of R.K. Pachauri as Teri executive vice-chairman triggered outrage, he proceeded on leave on Thursday even as a high-level meeting of the institute’s officials went on till late evening. The acting V-C confirmed that he will skip Teri University’s convocation scheduled for March 7.
“The convocation is on March 7. He (Pachauri) would not be attending it,” Rajiv Seth, acting VC of TERI varsity said.
In a parallel development, the Delhi Police told the Delhi HC that it was likely to file a chargesheet within 15 days in the sexual harassment case registered in February last year.
Trouble mounted for Pachauri, already in the thick of a legal battle over sexual harassment allegations, when another woman, a former employee of Teri, on Wednesday came out in public making similar accusations while demands were made for putting on hold his fresh appointment as its Executive Vice-Chairman.
The woman, to whom he had allegedly made sexual advances more than 10 years ago, also slammed Teri for appointing Pachauri to the higher position.
