Sankranti festivities at Srisailam from today

There is no sparsa (touching) darsanam and Arjitha Sevas during the period.

Kurnool: Sankranti festivities at the Sri Brahmarambha Mallikarjuna Devastanam of Srisailam begins on Saturday and conclude on January 18. The utsavams are performed on the occasion of Makara Sank-ramanam regularly for a period of seven days with Panchahnika Deeksha in the month of Pushyam (the 10th month of the Indian calendar) which falls in January. There is no sparsa (touching) darsanam and Arjitha Sevas during the period

Special rituals like Mandaparadhanalu, Mul-amantra japanushtanalu, Rudrahomam, Pushpot-savam, Sayanotsavam, Panchavaranarchanalu are performed as per custom. The special feature of these celebrations is that on Sankranthi, Kalyano-thsavam, the marriage of God Mallikarjuna Swamy is performed with Goddess Parvathi Devi.

Temple executive officer A. Sriramachandra Mur-thy said that arrangements were in place for the festivities when more than five lakh devotees are expected.

The celebrations start with yagasala along with Vighneswara puja at 8.30 am on Saturday. The Bhrungi Vahana Seva will be held on January 13, Ravana Vahana Seva on January 14, Nandi Vahana Seva on January 15, Pushpa Vahana Seva on January 16, Purnahuthi on January 17 and Ashwa Vahana Seva on January 18. Brahmotsava kaly-anam will be organised for Sri Mallikarjuna Swami and Goddess Brahm-arambha Devi on January 15, Dhwajarohana to the Swami Ammavarlu on January 16 and Ekantha Seva, Pushpotsavam and Sayanotsavam on January 18.
