VT Balram cyber fans have PCC give in
Thiruvananthapuram: It has taken some rotten eggs thrown by CPM supporters at V.T. Balram for the Congress leadership to come to the aid of the Thirthala MLA. So far, the senior leaders were advising him to withdraw his Facebook remarks against communist icon A.K. Goplan. But after the attacks he faced at Kootanad in Palakkad on Wednesday, things have changed.
Over 2.36 cyber fans of Balram launched a campaign in his favour on the social media by displaying the mobile number of KPCC president M.M. Hassan. With cyber warriors calling Hassan from all over the world, he had to switch off his mobile.
Hassan has now come to the defence of Balram and condemned the CPM supporters’ bullying. From the beginning, Balram was in no mood to apologize despite the senior leadership maintaining that his comments against AKG were unwarranted. Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala was advised by colleagues that Balram should be warned, but should not be ditched.
“Initially, the Congress leaders were in a hurry to snub Balram so as to be in the good books of the CPM. A few senior YC leaders came out with Facebook posts in favour of Balram which was lapped up by cyber warriors of Balram”, said a Congress leader.
Senior ‘I’ group leader Joseph Vazhakkan lamented the way the cyber warriors, irrespective of party affiliations, had held the KPCC leadership to ransom.
“Balram is the numero uno on the social media amid the CPM and BJP’s strong cyber supporters. But within no time the fan followers of Balram ensured that his attackers were reduced to nothing,” said Mr Vazhakkan.
